Our vision
A world where every community, regardless of geography or politics, has access to the resources they need to thrive: health, knowledge, and dignity. We envision a global network of empowered local leaders driving change from within.
About us
World Community Fund (WCF) was born from both necessity and a deep, enduring commitment to community.
For over a decade, our work in Central America through the Nicaragua Health Project (NGHP) has been a lifeline for underserved communities, providing essential health services and supporting local leaders on the front lines. However, as the political landscape in Nicaragua shifted, it became increasingly complex for NGOs to continue operating freely. Faced with this heartbreaking reality, we had a choice: stop helping or find a new path forward.
At the same time, another story had been quietly unfolding across the ocean. More than 20 years ago, Dr. Nathan Samras served as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Vongo community of Malawi. What began as a two-year assignment became a lifelong bond. Over the years, Nathan personally supported students from Vongo through school and university, helped local families access food and medicine, and stayed connected long after his formal service ended.
In 2025, these two stories converged.
We realized it was time to make our support official, not as individuals but as an organization. And not just in one country but globally. That’s how WCF came to life: as a platform to continue helping the people we care about and to expand that help to communities in need, wherever they may be.
While healthcare remains our core focus, we understand that health doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s intertwined with access to food, clean water, education, and economic opportunity. That’s why we support a broad range of locally driven projects, each one rooted in community leadership, transparency, and lasting impact.
Today, WCF is growing. We are rebuilding, reimagining, and reaffirming our commitment to walking alongside communities, not ahead of them.
